The
Adele Trend TQ3D (ATTQ3D) was acquired by Western
Geco and covers an area of 2,322 sq. km of open acreage
proposed for release as a part of the Federal Governments
2001 gazettal round. The ATTQ3D covers four bidding
blocks. There are valid play concepts at six different
stratigraphic levels ranging from Eocene to Jurassic
as well as Triassic at the flank of the basin. The
ATTQ3D also covers the recent Adele-1 oil discovery
(Cretaceous).
The
area is adjacent to the upgraded greater Brewster
structure which now includes the wells Dinichthys-1,
Gorgonichthys-1 and Titanichthys-1. According to an
article in "Upstream", Inpex has proven
10 Tcf of gas and 600 million barrels of recoverable
liquids from their drilling results in WA-285-P.
Heywood-1,
drilled in 1974, had good oil shows (untested) over
an intermittent interval between 3,240m and 4,572m
(TD). This result was similar to Brewster-1 which
was also believed to be tight when drilled back in
1981. However, the newly drilled wells on the greater
Brewster structure are proving an excellent flow rate.
It may be that the Heywood structure could now prove
to be a major oil discovery.
